Mass-ALFA Committee Overview 2009
Education and Training Committee
The Education and Training Committee develops the overall program content and strategy for delivering educational services to Mass-ALFA members. The committee develops the educational content for our training sessions and the Annual Fall Conference focused on providing high quality learning for management and staff working in our communities. The committee does long range planning and research to assess the educational and training needs for assisted living.
Quality Committee
The Quality Committee's goals are to identify and develop tools and resources that assist with regulatory compliance and quality improvement. The committee participates in and provides input into the development of staff education and training programs and policy initiatives. Task forces are developed, as needed, to oversee data collection initiatives, identify quality outcomes including principles or guidelines on a national and state level, and research and identify overall measurement processes on the quality of care and life for seniors.
The Resident Care Task Force, part of the Quality Committee, works on issues related to medication management within assisted living. Issues related to nurses are addressed and recommendations are made for training, education and services to respond to the needs of members.
The Nurse Education Task Force oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of educational services for nurses, per the requirements of the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses (MARN) so that Mass-ALFA can provide nurses with continuing education contact hours. This task force is trained in the criteria of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and MARN, and consists of a lead nurse planner, at least one nurse planner from each of the above three committees and Mass-ALFA staff.
