This program will explore how we can retrieve memories by using our senses. We will look at how “triggers” can open stored memories in a person with Alzheimer’s disease and how this process will improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease. By looking at what triggers memories for us we can begin to use this technique with those who have the disease.

Maureen Bradley, LPN, CDPMaureen Bradley is the director of the “Royal Innovation: Alzheimer’s Care” program for the Royal Health Group, and one of the region’s most respected authorities in this critical area of healthcare. In this position, she is responsible for the management of dedicated Alzheimer’s units in four Royal facilities, employing the very latest and most enlightened methodologies in the field of memory care. Maureen has been working in long term care for the last forty years, starting as a C.N.A. before continuing on to nursing school. She is a certified dementia practitioner, a dementia case manager and has also undergone Action Pact Culture Change training. Maureen previously was the quality of life director for Golden Living, and in that role monitored sixty five buildings in the areas of social services, recreation, Alzheimer’s care, culture change and mental health. She also previously was the director of operations for a small Alzheimer’s assisted living company. Maureen has written articles on Alzheimer’s disease and has presented on Alzheimer’s for many groups, including Cape and the Islands Alzheimer’s Services, the Mass. Alzheimer’s Association, and the Mass. Association of Recreation Directors.
